The bio-filter in the pond does most of the job in the reduction of ammonia in the water. The aeration system does a big part by lessening the production of ammonia. On the contrary, it is not the major cure for removing all ammonia in the water so do not; in any way choose to use a smaller bio-filter. The pond aeration is very slow in reducing ammonia content so do not rely on it too much.
